    FAQ's

What does Registration pay for?
Football player's registration pays for insurance, game jersey and game pants, and season trophy.

Cheerleader's registration pays for insurance, pom poms, season uniform, and trophy. If a cheerleader is still able to wear the uniform from the previous year, and the league has not changed the appearance of the
uniform, the registration is less.

What do I as a parent need to furnish for a 1st year football player?
Players are required to provide their own :
Helmet with comfotable chin strap (the strap that comes with a helmet when purchased is usually not comfortable and not safe) The league will provide the decals or stickers for the sides of the helmet.
Shoulder Pads
Practice Pants (color does not matter, as they are only for practice)
Pads (that are inserted into the pants)
Practice Jersey (again, color does not matter)
Mouth Piece
Cleats

When are Practices?
MANDATORY Practices are Mondays & Wednesdays. Some coaches may choose to practice Tuesday,Thursday or Friday. Please note, the alliance has adopted a new rule this year. If the player is not present for at least two full practices that week, it is at the coach's discretion to allow the child to participate in that week's game. The coach is in no way required to play that child if only one, or no practices were attended.

How far do we have to travel for games?
Each team may be required travel to Anauhac, Dayton, Huffman, New Caney, and/or Tarkington. Please see the "games" tab for locations of these league's facilities.

What happens if a team does not work their scheduled concession stand duty?
The team will have to forfiet a game, no exceptions. A concession stand schedule will be provided to the team mom well in advance, and it is up to that team to schedule enough parents to work their assigned time.

What do I do if there is a problem with my child's coach?
Please contact a SYFL board member with the problem so the situation may be handled away from the children.

Why is Fundraising so Important?
Fundraising helps make money for your team. All the money made from your team's fundraiser helps pay for items purchased for the players such as the Team Party, Jackets, Shirts etc. Participation in the league fundraiser is seperate from any team fundraiser, and is mandatory unless you buy out of the league fundraiser at time of registration. Please remember that the buy out is only for the league fundraiser, all team fundraisers are seperate and not associated with the league.

What if I have a general problem?
Any complaints and/or problems about Splendora Youth Football League can be handled by any board member available. If a board member is in the middle of coaching a practice, please do not interrupt. Find a board member who is available.

Who do I direct my complaints to about the park and facilities?
Please direct all facility only complaints to:  www.co.montgomery.tx.us/parks/tram.shtml

Why is getting League Sponsors so important?
League sponsors help our league purchase game and/or practice equipment, field paint & other field supplies, concession stand equipment, and pay for our referees.

How many games do we play, and when does the season end?
The regular season consists of 8 games. The season is usually over the first weekend in November. There is a playoff tournament which is played the weekend following the last regular season game. Every team plays in the playoff tournament. The top two teams from the tournament advance to the Super Bowl. There is a two week break between the playoff tournament and the Super Bowl.
